Spring is in full swing, and in honor of longer days and warmer weather, we’re exploring the life of the woman behind the world’s most famous bunny, Peter Rabbit.

Beatrix Potter is best known as the author and illustrator of the internationally best-selling children’s book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit. In her lifetime, she published thirty-five books, twenty-eight of which she illustrated herself—but did you know that she was the first person to patent a stuffed toy based on fictional character? (Peter Rabbit is the oldest licensed fictional character in the world!)

Beatrix Potter wore many hats: beloved children’s author, naturalist, conservationist, trail-blazing business woman, and more. Discover the life of the woman who revolutionized children’s publishing, and whose legacy continues to inspire readers around the world.

Our theme song is “Arabesque No. 1” by Claude Debussy (public domain).
