Another real highlight in this series, Nicole. I love how you give such a brilliant insight into Cezanne's personality too. It's crazy to think that he could still feel as if his hands were never quite capturing what he saw or felt in his heart.
(Also really interested to read the story about the wall mural discovery too.)
Thank you so much, George! He really was such a character and an interesting person, who sadly never seemed to overcome his self-doubt. And yes, I was happy to see that discovery at his home!
I loved reading your article and learn new facts about Cézanne, especially about his personality. I look forward to reading more when you discuss about Renoir and Degas regarding the Dreyfus affair.
what a a truly excellent read...............refreshing against the noise the world is full of.......and has me hungry for what Cézanne pursued....though I wish for more personal peace than his demons. And yet his demons gave us such art that is wonderful for us.........thank you.
Thank you, Nicole! At some point, I'd love to find out about the process of transferring a mural onto canvas. I've done some internet searching, but definitely haven't found a satisfactory explanation, especially at the time Cezanne's would have been transferred.

Fantastic essay on a poet of the canvas.
Thank you! 😊

Cezanne had such a revolutionary understanding of perception - he taught us all how to truly 'see'.
