This week, researchers announced several prominent finds from the world of Ancient Greece.
The first of these Greek discoveries that we’ll be examining is a pot of buried treasure found under a home in the ancient Greek city of Notion (which lies in what is now Turkey). The above gold coins are examples of Persian darics, which were likely minted in Sardis, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) northeast of Notion. As you can see in the above image, darics included depictions of kneeling archers, which are thought to represent Darius the Great.
