As it turns out, Italy has more than one “leaning tower.” The Two Towers of Bologna are the most prominent of the city’s medieval towers, fewer than twenty of which still stand today. Located near the city center, the Two Towers were constructed between 1109 and 1119 and are named after the families who built them—the Asinelli and the Garisenda. But why is this iconic landmark in danger?
